Cyanotpyes
Cyanotypes are photosensitive prints with a storied history within photography. While the neon arcade graphics are intentionally austere, the figures isolated in this medium have a delicacy that surprised me.
Camilla was a sister of the Horatii, engaged to one of their rivals, the Curiatii. When her brother saw her weeping for her slain lover upon his return, he murdered her.
The Horatii in 'Oath' in Paris 1785 evoked sacrifice to the ideals of liberty, equality, fraternity; yet amid current Western instability, the militaristic trio's escalating pose evokes entirely different politics.
"The Thinker" normally sits upon a tall plinth, so most photographs look up into the sculpture. This perspective is slightly above him.
